Is memory documental?
Is memory documental? How can memory be transferred through a medium in order to document it? Or can memory itself be understood as a documentary medium? And if so, what qualities does this medium have? How credible, how reliable is memory from a documentary perspective?
Projektidee “Im Aichetfeld 113”
In 1998 my family and I moved out of our house Im Aichetfeld 113. Since then none of us has entered it – so all our memories of this house go back at least 17 years. And yet we all believe we can remember the house exactly.
I asked my family members, separately from each other and without informing them about the project beforehand, to draw the ground plan of our house at that time, including the furnishings, from memory. While drawing, they should give a better insight by thinking aloud how and why they can remember certain things.
